The Evil Twin
(What is wrong with relationships)
Folks today don't seem to know,
Or care, how relationships work:
The effort of give and take
Is a duty that's easy to shirk.
Seems that vows mean nothing now...
For instance, 'For rich or poor';
If it doesn't gain advantage,
What the heck is it good for?
"I just use you to get what I want;
Who really cares about you?
My needs and urges are more important...
To my self-interest I must be true."
"If you refuse, I won't care much:
I'll replace you with another fool;
There are plenty of desperate ones around
Willing to let someone be cruel."
"Wait on me, hand and foot, on command...
Attend to my every whim and need;
And if you dare to succumb to weakness,
I will sneer in contempt as you bleed."

The Good Twin
(What should be right)
The magnificent Grey-lag goose,
According to lore, mates for life;
Working with, and for, each other,
Through good times, hardships, and strife.
The only thing important to them
Is the other one's safety and care.
They each look out for the other,
Making the burdens easy to bear.
That's how it should be with humans:
A matter of equal give and take.
There is no such thing as a 'perfect' person,
And you will never find the 'ideal' mate.
The only 'ideal' there should be
Is two people willing to make it
Together, as a cohesive unit,
Vowing never to break it.
There will be ups and downs,
Just take it all in stride;
Keep steering for the center line,
And hang on for the ride!
