One day, in broad daylight,
A pickup truck slammed into me,
Driven by a roaring drunk
Celebrating a New Year early.
Nothing short of a miracle
To escape with my life,
But the resulting damage
Caused hardship and strife.
Dealing daily with worry,
Despair, exhaustion, and pain...
I wonder how I could end up
Fearing I've lived life in vain?
Sometimes, it is difficult
To let go, and forgive;
To pick up the broken pieces,
And struggle just to live.
To all you young/old fools
In the mood for 'partying':
It might be someone else's life
You could end up ruining.
