He was headed home from work,
His shift at the factory completed;
Stumbling through the parking lot
Anxious, hungry, feeling depleted.
Hoping for a hot, hearty supper;
But this day was different, you see...
He cradled a small gray bundle of fur
He had rescued from the factory.
He shared his dinner with it,
Then began to tell it a tale;
The kitten perched on his shoulder,
Intent, as the man did regale.
An unlikely duo, those two:
Young man with demeanor gruff
Secretly guarding a soft inner core;
Loved by a tiny ball of fluff.
