I've been called rebellious;
The 'Black Sheep', so they say...
But they've never taken the time
To know me, anyway.
Labels are easy to pin,
And really tough to shake.
Every time the judgment stung
I felt my own heart break.
A 'Black Sheep' is a failure,
Destined to bring only shame.
I prefer to be a 'Maverick'...
Independant, and free of blame.
"Bring harm to none; judge not;
Practice tolerance, and peace..."
Why is it that I strive for this,
Yet am considered a 'social disease'?
To be a 'Maverick' or 'Black Sheep'
May be a matter of DNA...
The former meant to blaze new trails,
The other one fated to stray.
