Wounded and bleeding, once again,
I spent hours in anguished prayer;
When a soft Voice said, “Fear not,
For I am a just God, and I’m fair.”
“Remember that I am the Judge,
And the final day soon comes
When I will be presiding o’er,
And totaling up the sums.”
“Weights and measures will be placed
On the Scales of Justice there;
All things will be considered,
For I am a just God, and I’m fair.”
“All creatures, great and small,
Will have their time to speak;
From the strongest, and most pious,
To the lowliest of the weak.”
“Stripped of excuses and illusions:
The mortal soul laid bare;
Witnesses called to testify,
For I am a just God, and I’m fair.”
“The maverick and the black sheep
Will finally have their say,
And see justice prevail o’er the one
Who broke, and bent them that way.”
I felt my boiling innards calm,
As a sense of peace filled the air;
I took comfort in renewed faith:
For He is a just God, and He’s fair.
